The Friesian (sometimes called Frizian) is a horse breed that originated in the Dutch province of Friesland. Friesians are agile and nimble for their size, despite their shape resembling that of a light draught horse. During the Middle Ages, Friesian horses were thought to be in high demand as military horses across Europe.
