The Adolescent Owner Of The Labrador Retriever Was Rescued From A Rattlesnake Assault By Their Heroic Four-Legged Companion.

Marley, a Labrador retriever hailed as a “hero,” rescued his 18-year-old owner from a rattlesnake attack in Harbison Canyon, California. Although the seven-year-old dog managed to shield his owner from a deadly snake bite two weeks ago, he himself was bitten twice on the mouth and neck.

The GoFundMe page dedicated to covering Marley’s veterinary costs reported that while Alex Laredo was making his way to the dryer located on the side of his house, he heard a significant rattling sound. Upon further inspection, he discovered a rattlesnake measuring one and a half feet in length positioned underneath a nearby table, less than a foot away from him.

Upon seeing the rattlesnake, Marley swiftly placed himself between me and the agitated serpent. In his valiant attempt to capture the venomous creature, Marley was attacked by two deadly snakes, one biting his mouth and the other his neck. The entire ordeal unfolded in a blur of chaos and before we knew it, Marley was bitten and bleeding profusely. Writhing in pain, he collapsed to the ground, but I managed to swiftly rescue him and bring him to safety indoors.

Alex quickly took Marley and his mother to the veterinarian after the snake had slithered away. Marley had to receive four antivenin doses and was critically ill for a few days.

Marley began to experience facial swelling and difficulty breathing, as well as bleeding from his mouth. Despite my fear and awareness that time was running out, I attempted to remain composed and act quickly. My dear friend had already undergone check-in upon arrival, and the technician was prepared. The uncertainty of my closest companion’s survival made for the most traumatic encounter of my life.

After some time, Marley showed improvement and within two days, she was deemed fit to return home. Although Marley is out of harm’s way, regular medication and weekly checkups are required due to nerve damage in the lips and jaw.
