Bella, diagnosed with Morquio Syndrome, a rare condition affecting mobility, was 11 years old when she met George. Her mother, who was volunteering with the service dog project, introduced them, and it was love at first sight. George became Bella’s service dog, providing her with comfort and assistance in her daily life.
Bella emphasizes the significance of George in her life, stating that whenever she needs someone to help her, he is always there. The connection between them is evident from George’s gestures, as he appears to need Bella as much as she needs him.
BarkPost, a popular dog-centric website, recognized George’s outstanding service and awarded him their “Dog’s Best Day” honor, which aims to provide a fun-filled day for deserving dogs. Videos of George and his stylish friends have since gone viral.
According to Bella’s mother, George has been by Bella’s side throughout her weekly enzyme replacement therapy at Boston Children’s Hospital, as well as during her two recent short hospital stays. His presence has given Bella more confidence, making her feel like a regular kid despite her condition.
On October 14, Bella will undergo reconstructive surgery on her right foot, and George will be there with her. He has given Bella not only comfort and assistance but also a sense of belonging and confidence.
