Introducing Pumpkin, a pregnant dog mama who was saved from a life on the streets. Recently, she found herself in another dangerous situation when she got stuck under a shed at the Hawkins County Humane Society. Seizing the opportunity when the rescue staff was not looking, Pumpkin, with her baby bump, managed to crawl under the narrow space beneath the storage house and became trapped.
“I open the back door and call for her, and her head pops out from underneath!” shelter staff member Kennedy Margetjak told The Dodo. “I knew something was wrong because she wouldn’t even come for treats! I walk out and her pregnant self is wedged underneath the shed and is struggling to get out but just can’t.”
Initially, the staff attempted to assist Pumpkin by gently pulling her, but her advanced pregnancy hindered their efforts. They then sought the expertise of the shelter’s handyman, Joey Arnold, who skillfully utilized a jack to successfully liberate Pumpkin. Remarkably, Pumpkin emerged unharmed, and boy, was she grateful!
The shelter is actively working to find Pumpkin loving owners who can offer a safe space for her to deliver her babies. At least she and her pups are in safe hands.
