The image of a loyal dog waiting in the same place for a week, waiting in vain for its owner to return, makes us so sad.ThuHa

A 2-year-old pit bull puppy never thought when his former owner took him to outside along with some boxes of unwanted belongings, it would be the last time he saw his former owner.

In December 2016, an adorable pit bull mix named Ollie-Loo was left stranded by himself on a harsh winter day after his owner moved to a new home and abandoned him.

Not knowing that he had been abandoned by his owner, Ollie-Loo waited for days in the same exact spot where he was abandoned

Winters in Detroit can be extremely harsh where temperatures often drop below zero degrees at night. However, Ollie-Loo never budged away from the spot as he hoped for his owner to return and get him back.

Luckily, he was later rescued five days before Christmas after someone made an urgent call to the Detroit Animal Welfare Group (DAWG) about Ollie-Loo.

Volunteers from the animal rescue organization including Terri Looby quickly rushed to the spot where the dog was abandoned

In an interview with The Dodo, Looby recalled the moment when she and her co-worker saw Ollie-Loo hiding underneath the boxes for some warmth.

“As soon as the dog heard us, he picked his head up and looked at me. I said, ‘Hi baby, it’s OK. Come see me.’ His tail was wagging, and he jumped off the chair and started limping toward me. He knew he was safe!” Looby said.

She added that a neighbour of the dog’s former owner told them that Ollie-Loo had been abandoned outside for over a week after his owner was evicted from the house. The owner initially abandoned Ollie-Loo and another smaller dog but they came back to get the smaller dog and left the pit bull puppy alone.

Looby also shared that the puppy may have not eaten for days when they rescued him as Ollie-Loo quickly jumped to the back seat of their car as soon as he smelled food

“He smelled the chicken patty that I had brought with us. We told him, ‘It’s OK, go ahead and eat it.’ He grabbed that chicken patty so fast,” Looby said.

Fortunately, Olli-Loo did not suffer from any health problems except a broken femur despite being abandoned in the freezing Detroit winter

He had undergone surgery after he was brought to the animal shelter

As for Looby, she was thankful that Ollie-Loo managed to adapt well to his new home after a new owner adopted him not long after he was rescued

“Ollie-Loo has been a very sweet, happy, tail-wagging puppy who just wants a family to love him and not toss him out like he is trash..,” Looby said.
