It was a somber day in St. Louis, as noted by the disheartened rescuers at Stray Rescue of St. Louis when they received a female dog suffering from gunshot wounds in need of emergency surgery. They gave her the name Princess Rosie. While her face had only been grazed by a bullet, her front legs had not been as fortunate.
Each of her legs had been shot “at least once,” as the rescue group shared on Facebook.
“One of her front legs has three broken bones, and the other has a small fracture,” they reported. Additionally, her legs were infected, indicating a long road to recovery.
Sadly, they shared, “We were told that they have already been sold. It’s heartbreaking to think about. We just hope they are old enough to be without their mom and that they are okay.”
They began searching for a foster caregiver who could “provide her with a relaxing and cuddly place to heal after being shot in both of her front legs.” Perhaps transforming into a unicorn for Halloween would entice the right person.
Finding foster caregivers has been a challenge for the Missouri-based rescue, and as of October 27, Princess Rosie is still in need of a foster family to take care of her.
So, the rescue, with the help of local support, decided it was time for Princess Rosie to have a night on the town to relax and have some fun.
“Princess Rosie was busted out of the shelter by our Clinic Caregiver, Molly, and they enjoyed a night of luxury together at the Angad Arts Hotel! She was SO EXCITED,” they wrote and shared some adorable photos of Rosie enjoying her hotel stay.
Molly shared, “Thank you for giving Princess Rosie and me this opportunity! We both had a blast! I can’t believe someone shot this angel. She’s quite literally the sweetest dog; she insisted on cuddling all night. I hope someone sees these pictures and takes her home!”
“She’s looking for a foster home where she can rest as peacefully as she did last night!”
