Sara Melnicoff found a hero in Bobby L’Heureux when he rescued her elderly dog from the treacherous waters of a river.
Overflowing with gratitude, Sara shared Bobby’s heroic act on Facebook, and her post quickly gained popularity as it circulated across the internet. In her heartfelt post, she recounted the following:
EaEarlier today, my beloved pup Carli was swept away by the powerful currents of Mill Creek near Powerdam. She struggled to stay afloat as she drifted downstream. Desperately, I tried to locate her while calling out her name, frantically jogging along the creek towards the Tea Cup overlook.
Just as I was about to remove my shoes and dive into the water to rescue her, a young man suddenly appeared. Without hesitation, he quickly stripped down to his boxers. With unwavering bravery, he plunged into the water, skillfully navigating the slippery rocks and strong currents to reach Carli.
After hours of searching downstream, he finally located Carli. She was trembling and exhausted, her age and arthritis taking a toll on her. When the rescuer brought Carli back to me, I was overwhelmed with emotion and gratitude. I hugged him tightly and asked for his name. In honor of Bobby’s heroic act, I’ve decided to make a donation to his favorite non-profit organization as a way of paying it forward.
